Jersey City light railGetting around Jersey City is easy by PATH train and Light Rail. Taxis are available at Exchange Place, Grove Street, and Journal Square PATH stations. Taxis run either metered or unmetered, but the fares are generally the same. Zipcar is available in Jersey City. Most locations are downtown, and there is one location each for Liberty State Park and Journal Square. Cars are within walking distance of all PATH stations in Jersey City, and Light Rail stops between Newport and Liberty State Park.

The PATH train runs to Journal Square, Grove street, Exchange Place and Pavonia/Newport in Jersey City with connections to Newark, lower Manhattan, Midtown Manhattan and Hoboken. Lower Manhattan is about seven minutes away from the Pavonia/Newport PATH. Midtown Manhattan (33rd Street) is about 15 minutes away, and Newark Penn Station about 25 minutes away. You can also connect to regional New Jersey Transit and interstate Amtrak trains from Newark Penn Station.

The Hudson-Bergen Light Rail connects Jersey City waterfront to Hoboken, Weehawken, Union City, North Bergen and Bayonne.

NY Waterway is fast becoming a popular way to get to Manhattan. Ferries travel from Exchange Place to World Financial Center and West 39th street in Midtown. Ferries from Port Liberty and Liberty Harbor connect travel to Pier 11 in Lower Manhattan

It is easy to get to Jersey City by car. Street parking especially in downtown Jersey City may be difficult to find, but there are several garages that operate 24 hours. Jersey City is on the western end of the Holland Tunnel so any highway will get you there, including Interstate 78 (the Hudson Count Extension of the New Jersey Turnpike), and Interstate 280. From New York take the West Side Highway or Canal Street.

Jersey City downtown is about a 10 minute ride from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), one of the three airports serving the New York metropolitan area.

NJ Transit buses and other operators will take you to Journal Square Transportation bus terminal. Greyhound buses stop at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan and the bus terminal at Newark Penn Station.
